Artist Bio
Always creative, Sandy decided she wanted to paint in oils so she studied with 2 local artists for about 2 years. That fired her to look for more education. She then studied with some of the best. These include Gay Faulkenberry, Ann Templeton, R. S. Riddick, Xiang Zhang, Timothy Tyler, Bill Garrison, Rick McClure, Christine Verner , Carolyn Anderson and Kaye Franklin.
Her works include Still Life, Landscape, Animals and Portraits. She belongs to the Outdoor Painters of America, Oil Painters of America , Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, Oklahoma Lady Artists as well as several local art guilds.
She especially enjoys painting from life and has traveled the country painting outdoors. In 2006 she went with a small group of artists to Canyon de Chelly, Arizona where they camped out and painted for 3 days. Other trips with the Outdoor Painters have taken her to several places in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
She has shown work both locally and in National Juried Shows throughout the years. She has participated in Norman’s Art Walk for several years, the festival in Drumright Oklahoma and the Arts in the Park in Cushing, Oklahoma Currently her work can be seen at Verner Fine Art Gallery in McAlester, Oklahoma, the gallery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, The Creative Art Center in Bonham, Texas and on her website www.sandyingram.com
At the request of Bart Conner, Olympic gold medalist she exhibited works with a western flavor at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City for the 2006, 2007 and 2008. This was in conjunction with the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Level 10 National championships and the Annual International Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and IGHOF Academy, located in Norman, Oklahoma.
She lives in a rural area in south central Oklahoma with her husband, Glen. There are several acres on which to plein aire paint as well as cattle and chickens.
