Hand Carved and Painted Wood by Robert Adams
Artist Statement

“Robert's artistry speaks for itself in each and every wood carving he completes.”

Robert has had a compelling interest in wildlife art for the better part of his life. As a relatively self-taught artist, he tries to bring forth the beauty and life of the bird in his carvings. Each piece is signed and dated as all work is an original and one-of-a-kind. Beginning with a block of wood and chisel, Robert painstakingly cuts away the unwanted wood. After the shape is completed, the feather pattern is then relief carved. The feathers are burned into the wood and painted with artist oils. The legs and feet are made from copper wire for strength and stability. The bases are made from hardwoods, driftwood and, on occasion, stone. Flowers, rocks, insects, etc. are all done in wood. Robert has won many awards and ribbons in competitions, mainly in the Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas area. He also has numerous pieces of art in private collections throughout the United States. Robert's artistry speaks for itself in each and every wood carving he completes.
