Artist Statement
"I feel the arts are an expression of the inner self. God has given artist in all areas of creative endeavor, the inner force to create something extraordinary. Usint these creative gifts, I have endeavored to capture my impressions of the beauty of the landscape, flowers, or express my feelings about a particular moment in time. Painting in a variety of media has been a great challenge to mind and haert. My style embraces techniques ranging from naturalistic to abstract expressionism. To create the images I explore the varied use of color, design, and texture. Of all the varied media I have tried, porcelain painting is the most difficult to master...I paint the valley and mountian landscape in plein air.l The ever-changing light of New Mexico calls to my soul. I am always trying to capture the light in my paintings. I am known for my use of color and the illusive quality of lost and found edges. Teaching painting for the last 40 years has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences. I am blessed to have been able to share my gifts with hundreds of students through those years. Seeing each student grow in their art form the knowledge I share with them keeps me striving for more creatice ways to teach."
