Artist Bio

Mireille Damicone is a visual artist who lives in Stillwater Oklahoma.  Born in Canada She moved to Massachusetts and graduated with high honors in art.  She received a scholarship to attend Smith College for the merits of her oil paintings.  While at Smith College she was granted a scholarship by Trinity College in Connecticut to study in Rome, Italy .  She traveled  throughout Europe and studied many of the master's art work first hand. Returning to Smith College she had a one- woman show . After her return from abroad her interest in art, antiquity, and history directed her towards teaching .

Mireille started her teaching career in art .  She developed and delivered art programs  to children at Louisiana State University  , Mississippi State University, and in Stillwater while raising her family.  Settling In Stillwater Oklahoma  she returned to school and obtained her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Art at Oklahoma State University  where she was introduced  to  working with metals .   She developed and delivered art programs throughout the city and surrounding areas.   She taught in the public schools for twelve years and obtain the  National Board Certification for Teaching Art.
 
In 2008 she decided  to launch her own jewelry business.  Her jewelry designs have  been purchased  throughout Oklahoma and Massachusetts . Her jewelry are like small sculptures and are made with fine silver and semi-precious stones .   She has won awards and for her jewelry and paintings and has been featured in art  galleries in Oklahoma such as in the  Historic  City of Guthrie, at Simply Oklahoma  Gallery , The Paseo District in Oklahoma City at the Jeweler's Art. 

She  is featured in juried arts festivals in Oklahoma  and surrounding areas. Her current work is a series of oil paintings of  plants that have  intrinsic  emotional  impact .   She recently received an  invitation to be a guest resident artist at the  prestigious  art  colony in Johnson Vermont.
