Artist Bio

A native of Oklahoma City has spent the majority of her married life in the Marlow-Duncan area.

She has always been an art appreciator and has doodled thru out life drawing, creating and studying art.  She is a 1995 graduate of University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, where she studied art.  Her first lessons in art were with Johnanna McLaughlin in 1987, a former Duncan teacher and artist now living in Santa Fe, NM.  Through out the years she has focused on oil painting, but loves the adventures in stain glass, sculpting and print making.

In 2001 after a couple of family tragedies art became a form of therapy for a way of pouring out her feelings.

She has traveled to Italy, France, England and many places in the United States to be able to paint “en plein air.”

Studying with Leonard Wren, a former Tulsa teacher and artist, helped her to see more form and color out doors—the warm sky, the cool shadows, and the fact that you have a shorter time span for painting to catch the essence of your painting.  It’s like a magic moment.

Jolene has studied with Judy McCombs of Chickasha, Marty Childers, Gay Faulkenberry and is currently studying with Kaye Franklin.  She has a small studio in Marlow where she teaches beginners.

Jolene has won numerous awards and her works are hanging in Celebration Frames and Gallery, 50 Penn Gallery Place Gallery,OK, Paseo Gallery One, OK ,Jolene’s Art Den, Gallery in Arkansaw, Kemp Museum, TX and many private collections through out the states.
