Artist Bio

I have worked in the medium of glass since January of 1995 as a self taught artist, and began actively showing my work in 1998.  My work has included Tiffany style glass as well as leaded glass and venturing into Fused Glass.  I am constantly fascinated by the ability to begin with the raw material of pieces of glass and metal and shape them into an object of art, and I am always striving for projects that will continue to challenge my ability of working the glass.  Past endeavors include a background in Pencil, Pen and Ink, Acrylic and Watercolor painting, Woodworking, and Pottery.  Having worked as an artist in many mediums for most my life, I have found that glass is the most challenging and satisfying and I have pursued the medium aggressively.  The process of working with the cold glass as well as working with hot glass provides a never-ending source of ideas for new creations.

Artist Statement

The personal endeavor I am striving to achieve with my glass work is to continuously learn, experiment and explore my abilities and push my limits working with a medium that is so common yet so mysterious.  As a self taught glass artist, I have chosen to explore my own abilities and weaknesses, to mold them as I learn what I am able and what I am not able to create with glass.  As I discover each obstacle, I strive to expand my ability to achieve each goal I set.  Working with glass, I have a medium of such versatility, that each project offers boundless possibilities.  My work has been influenced by Nature and the Native American Culture as well as the inspiration and work of masters of the craft of glass.  The works of Louis Comfort Tiffany, Frank Lloyd Wright and Dale Chihuly encourage constant inspiration.  Works that I have produced include pieces of flat and multi-dimensional design that may be found in collections around the world.  My goal is to continue my education and creative aspirations to include architectural and cast glass works as well as sculptural Fused Glass and Stained Glass.
