Artist Statement

“When embarking on each new painting she hopes to express feelings with her painted forms.”

Doris (DJ) Bewley received her education in art at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA,  Louisiana Tech University Rome, Italy and the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Art in New Mexico. When embarking on each new painting she hopes to express feelings with her painted forms by emphasizing color, rhythm, movement and space. She always avoids the mundane or expected. Over the years DJ has participated in several juried exhibitions such as Oklahoma Art Guild National Exhibition, Oklahoma City Museum of Art at Artspace, the Wichita Museum Five State, the National Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society. Doris had art hanging in several private collections which include the Oklahoma Education Association, Integris Hospital, AT&T Technologies and CCI Corp..
