Artist Bio

Dave Muir Jr, a native Oklahoman, is captivated by the power of photography to transcend time.  He is a photographer for all events experimenting and learning the basics with a manual 35-mm film camera.  At Kansas university he studied composition, color, light, pattern and texture and was also a year book photographer developing and printing his own work in a darkroom.  He has enjoyed party, aerial, architectural, landscape, wedding and portrait photography.  Asked to explain why he photographs, Dave states that he photographs "Because of relationships and the illusion of stopping time.  Relationships are at the root of all life and through a photograph I can jump time and am privileged to have a connection with the viewer of the future.  A good photograph resonates with the viewer's stories of who they think they are and evokes visceral feelings, often in unexpected ways."

In addition to Oklahoma, Dave has lived in Kansas, Michigan and Florida.  He and his wife now live "in the trees by a pond" a few miles South of Perry, Oklahoma.  Their two children live in Florida and Texas.  He has pursued careers in horticulture, retail grocery, manufacturing and quality management.  His interests include gardening, camping, hosting a discussion group, bicycling, yoga and "Leaving the woodpile a little higher than he found it."
